Hand carved Mother of Pearl utensils are the traditional utensils used to serve caviar. This particular spoon has a Sterling Silver band at the top of the handle making it just a little more special, a little more elegant. Mother of Pearl does not affect the caviar's fragile flavor. Any other type of tableware would alter the taste of caviar and distract from its natural flavor.
