The French have a vast selection of gourmet cheeses and we have created a gourmet sampler of many of the types of cheese from France. Our Handful of French Cheese shows the diversity of gourmet cheeses this country has to offer:

Comte - (8 oz.) also known as Gruyere de Comte, is made from the milk of the Montbeliard cow. The cheese is hard, straw-colored, contains some medium-size holes with a floral aroma with nutty fudge flavors developing in the more mature cheese.
Mimolette - (6 oz.) a pressed cooked cheese that is aged for 12 months. It has a distinctive flavor of butterscotch and caramel with a deep orange paste, a hard firm texture and breaks rather like fudge.
Chaource - a soft-ripened gourmet cheese from the Champagne region. The flavor of the young cheese is rich and mild, maturing to rich and nutty.
Bleu d'Auvergne - (8 oz.) has a wonderful aroma, a rich taste; the saltiness increases with the incidence of veining. The overall flavor is piquant but not overly sharp.
