Our Featured Dutch Gourmet Cheese
Picture of edam
Dutch Edam cheese is a true example of the renowned Dutch cheese making prowess. Known for its distinctive red wax coating, our imported Dutch Edam has a slightly spicy aroma and easy taste with a slightly salty flavor lingering on the palate. True Edam is made from partially skimmed, pasteurized milk and thus has a relatively low fat content. Named after the town of Edam in the north of the Netherlands, our gourmet Edam is imported directly from The Netherlands, and is not an American or other imitation of the real Edam; as are many of the so called "Edam" cheeses in the market place. Befitting a cheese made from a Dutch tradition dating to the 17th century, try our gourmet Edam cheese and you won't be disappointed. Please note that wheels vary slightly in total weight, you will be charged for the actual weight of the wheel that you will receive. read more...

  • This Vintage Gouda is aged 5 years and there are not so many Goudas of that age, with a similar miracle of flavor. The color of this gourmet cheese is deep amber and burnt orange with a texture similar to Parmigiano-Reggiano, very firm and flaky. Its rich flavor and subtle sweetness is intense and complex. It is an excellent substitute for grating cheeses as it caramelizes beautifully; it is even ... read more
  • Reypenaer cheese, one of the great Dutch cheeses, is carefully matured for about 1 year. This Dutch gourmet cheese is aged less than the Reypenaer VSOP, although it is already very old as cheeses go. It does not have the sharper tangy taste of the Reypenaer VSOP, instead it has a soft and creamy flavor that lingers on the palate. Simply delicious! At the International Nantwich Cheese Show (UK) in ... read more
  • Wijngaard Cheese, the makers of Reypenaer and Reypenaer VSOP, were having some production difficulties with Reypenaer VSOP. They have overcome the problems, but the Reypenaer VSOP still needs time to age to its perfect flavor and texture and sadly it will not be available until mid 2014. Luckily there is still the 1-year old Reypenaer, the multiple award–winner, definitely a worthy alternative. ... read more
  • Old Amsterdam is an aged Gouda cheese that is aged until the Dutch cheese makers are ready to release it, when they know the cheese had the perfect  flavor and texture. The Westland cheese makers know what they're doing as the cheese won numerous awards over the years, in 2012 Sabor del Ano in Spain, and a golden award for 'Best Dutch Cheese' at the Nantwich Cheese Show. Old Amsterdam has a p... read more
  • Leyden Cheese is the Dutch gourmet cheese for you if you like cumin, because this seed is mixed into the curd. This authentic cheese is in The Netherlands known as 'Leidse kaas' (cheese from the famous old Dutch city of Leiden). The cheese is made in flat wheels of varying sizes and the farmstead version carries the city's symbol of two crossed keys. Our Leyden cheese is made by one of the large D... read more
  • Prima Donna maturo (extra matured) does not only have a distinct ruby-red label, its taste is full bodied as a high quality extra matured cheese should be. The Dutch makers of Prima Donna know that very well it takes time to age;a cheese to a mature flavor and that's exactly what Prima Donna is allowed to do; to relax/age a little longer than the average cheese to come to her maturity. Prima Donn... read more
  • Cablanca is an excellent 'entry level' goat's milk cheese if you want to try something different but are not so sure about the usually assertive taste of traditional goat cheese. Cablanca has the characteristic of goat milk but is milder than traditional unpasteurized goat's milk cheeses. This cheese has a delicate, citrus tanginess and firm but creamy texture and a snow-white color. This gourmet ... read more
  • Rembrandt is clearly named after the famous Dutch painter Rembrant van Rijn. This Gouda cheese is aged over 1 year and has a very nice rich, deep hearty flavor, not overly sharp, with a touch of tanginess. Rembrandt has a firm texture, but melts easily. The cheese can be sliced for your sandwiches, and will do fantastic in pairing with many full bodied red wines. ... read more
  • Reypenaer cheese is a familiar name; in our humble opinion one of the best Goudas ever made in Holland. The Wijngaard family, the makers of Reypenaer has created a lovely flavored Gouda of 10 months old and covered it with ginger; a combination of flavors loved by many. The full flavored, rich cheese and the ginger create a nice balanced cheese that is worth a try. The difference with other flavo... read more
