When a young Allison Hooper came back from working on a farm in Brittany, France she learned time-honored traditions of European artisanal cheesemaking. Years later, she received a lot of positive response after producing her fresh goat cheese, her chevre, for a banquet and the idea of founding Vermont Butter & Cheese Company was born.
Since then Vermont Butter & Cheese has earned many awards and the products are used by chefs and consumers. These goat logs are handcrafted cheeses, made with local milk from Vermont family farms; they have a simple, mild, fresh goats’ milk favor, and they are highly versatile — an excellent ingredient in many dishes as well as on its own.
Try these small 4 oz. logs and use them in pastas, on flatbreads, in salads or on a cheeseboard. We have a Classic Chevre (a 2011 American Cheese Society Award winner), a Herb Chevre and a Pepper Chevre.
