Gourmet Gouda Cheese

Browse our great selection of Gourmet Goudas and Gouda-type Cheese including the International Award winning Reypenaer and the ever popular Old Amsterdam. Gouda may be the best-known Dutch cheese type, and the name Gouda is derived from the Dutch city Gouda, but Gouda cheese is often imitated. Gouda and Gouda-style cheeses are recognizable in their shape, most of them are wheels, big wheels around 25 pounds in weight. As Gouda refers to a particular style cheese, there are of course many varieties; length of ageing, method of aging, ingredients used, rind color and herbs, or spices added. Try them all and you will experience that a Gouda is not necessarily a Gouda; let us know what you think by giving us your opinion in a product review.

We will be adding exciting new Gourmet Gouda Cheeses frequently, so come back soon!

Picture of marieke mature raw milk gouda
Marieke Penterman and her team are responsible for this handcrafted, traditional Gouda that is made, using the time-tested Old World, Old Dutch world in this case, cheesemaking methods. The Holland's Family Cheese team transforms fresh, raw cow's milk from their own cows milk on the family farm into award-winning cheese. The equipment, cultures, herbs and spices are all imported from Holland. The fresh cow's milk is piped directly from the first milking of the day into the processing vat. The curd is hand packed into 18 pound forms before going under the press. It is then brined for 60 hours. The wheels are then transferred to the special curing room and aged on Dutch pine planks which absorb the liquid as the cheese ages. Marieke Mature Gouda is 6-9 months old, rich and full-flavored with a subtle bite and caramel notes. Pair this gourmet Gouda cheese with dried cherries and candied pecans, Zinfandel or spiced rum. This truly amazing gourmet cheese made it to the top - it was awarded the 2013 Grand Champion of the U.S. Championship Cheese read more...

  • Reypenaer cheese, one of the great Dutch cheeses, is carefully matured for about 1 year. This Dutch gourmet cheese is aged less than the Reypenaer VSOP, although it is already very old as cheeses go. It does not have the sharper tangy taste of the Reypenaer VSOP, instead it has a soft and creamy flavor that lingers on the palate. Simply delicious! At the International Nantwich Cheese Show (UK) in ... read more
  • Old Amsterdam is an aged Gouda cheese that is aged until the Dutch cheese makers are ready to release it, when they know the cheese had the perfect  flavor and texture. The Westland cheese makers know what they're doing as the cheese won numerous awards over the years, in 2012 Sabor del Ano in Spain, and a golden award for 'Best Dutch Cheese' at the Nantwich Cheese Show. Old Amsterdam has a p... read more
  • This Vintage Gouda is aged 5 years and there are not so many Goudas of that age, with a similar miracle of flavor. The color of this gourmet cheese is deep amber and burnt orange with a texture similar to Parmigiano-Reggiano, very firm and flaky. Its rich flavor and subtle sweetness is intense and complex. It is an excellent substitute for grating cheeses as it caramelizes beautifully; it is even ... read more
  • Reypenaer cheese is a familiar name; in our humble opinion one of the best Goudas ever made in Holland. The Wijngaard family, the makers of Reypenaer has created a lovely flavored Gouda of 10 months old and covered it with ginger; a combination of flavors loved by many. The full flavored, rich cheese and the ginger create a nice balanced cheese that is worth a try. The difference with other flavo... read more
  • Rembrandt is clearly named after the famous Dutch painter Rembrant van Rijn. This Gouda cheese is aged over 1 year and has a very nice rich, deep hearty flavor, not overly sharp, with a touch of tanginess. Rembrandt has a firm texture, but melts easily. The cheese can be sliced for your sandwiches, and will do fantastic in pairing with many full bodied red wines. ... read more
