Kunik is a unique and voluptuous triple cream cheese only made on a small farm, Nettle Meadow Farm, nestled in the southeast corner of the Adirondacks, in Thurman, New York.
It is a small white mold-ripened wheel made from goat's milk and Jersey cow cream. This particular blend makes Kunik very rich, very flavorful. There is very little goat milk flavor and a lot of richness, a wonderful combination that is rather unique. According to the makers at Nettle Meadow Farm, the grains and herbs their goats eat play an important role in the flavor development of the Kunik, like wild raspberry leaf, nettle, kelp, comfrey, garlic, barley, goldenrod. Pair Kunik with a sparkling wine.
Kunik was awarded a first place in the 2010 American Cheese Society Competition in the category Soft Ripened Cheese, Triple Creme.
