Swedish Fontina is a smooth textured semi-soft cheese made from partially skimmed cow's milk and can be recognized by its bright red wax.

The texture of the cheese is smooth with small eyes formation. The flavor is mild and slightly tangy and has similarities with other Scandinavian cheeses, such as Havarti and Danish Fontina and not so much with the Italian Fontina.
