Picture of Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee Blend
It is widely known that coffee beans are the essence of their environment. They pick up the flavor and aroma of the soil, the moisture, and even of nearby fruit trees that drop fruit near the roots of the coffee tree. "As we trek through the Jamaican Blue Mountains I am acutely aware of all that surrounds me. Our walk started at before sunrise and while my eyes were blinded by darkness, my ears became more sensitive to sound and my nose more sensitive to smell. I could hear the distant sea with its rolling waves, just as I could faintly smell the salty spray in the air. Although I couldn't see the ocean, I could sense its vastness, and I felt a bit vulnerable. As morning began to unfold, we could clearly see why these mountains are named Jamaica Blue. A never-ending mist heavily covers the mountains giving them a mysterious bluish tint. We continued on our trail in daylight and we made our way through lush rain forest, over bridges that tested our courage and occasionally we caught breaks in the trees, enough so that we could take in the expansive views of the coast. Making our way through the low canopy of trees, we take in many of the more than 500 species of flowering plants, half of which are native to Jamaica and found no where else on the planet. Unfortunately we are not here to see the Jamaican bamboo in all its glory, as it only blooms every 33 years, next time being in 2017. This rain forest is also home to the world's second largest butterfly. We hike the rugged terrain, cross rapid rivers, and we are blazing trails! Finally by early afternoon, we arrive at the coffee plantation to cup this farmer's magic brew. Since 1728 when Sir Nicholas Lawes brought the first seedlings to Jamaica, this ground has been producing the absolute, hands down, finest coffee in the world. My senses sharply are alive after walking in the dark, smelling the fresh forest flora and tasting the sea spray salt on my lips. As I sip this farmers Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, I realize that this bean comes from the soil of one of the most amazing places on earth. Simply put, no wonder it is so good!" Our Jamaican Blue Mountain blend is designed to allow you to experience the worlds most coveted, authentic Jamaica Blue in a blend with other fine coffees that complement the Blue Mountain's cup. The Neidhammer Select Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee Blend is available in whole beans and 3 different grinds: Drip-Grind, French-Press or Espresso-Grind. Each coffee is freshly roasted just for your order and packed in a 1-pound heat-sealed valve bag that will ensure the freshest coffee. read more...
