Port is a fortified red or white wine made from grape varieties that grow specifically in Northern Portugal. Port wine is aged in cellars and the taste ranges from fruity and sweet to complex and dry; Port consists of a combination of grape varieties.
Port is usually enjoyed before or after dinner and pairs best with blue cheese, and aged cow's milk cheese. Our Port Wine Cheese Board is made of two of each:
Gorgonzola Dolce (8 oz.) - Gorgonzola dolce has a fragile rind which may have some powdery patches. The paste is white to pale yellow with greenish-blue veins. The texture is quite creamy.
Clothbound Cheddar by Cabot (8 oz.) - a handsome natural rinded cheddar, simple, approachable and balanced, with layers of lingeringly nutty, slightly fruity and nearly buttery flavor, while finishing with the mellowness of caramel undertones.
Midnight Moon (8 oz.) - a goat's milk cheese that is aged for at least one year, resulting in a nutty and brown-buttery flavor, with prominent caramel notes.
Blue Stilton (8 oz.) - probably the best-known accompaniment to port wine. The aroma is sharply nutty and the flavor is full of mellow nuts and fruit.
This assortment comes with a package of French Mini Toast.
