Traditional Fromage Blanc is usually made from cow's milk. On this occasion New York's Nettle Meadow Farm made a goat's milk version lovingly whipped with honey and lavender flowers. The result is a delightfully fresh, floral, and slightly sweet cheese.

Fromage Blanc means 'white cheese' in French, and is sometimes called "Farmer's Cheese". It's a relatively simple recipe that makes a very fresh, light, mild, spreadable cheese.

Fromage Blanc, plain or flavored, is delicious with sweet dishes like fresh fruit, on toast, waffles, pancakes, crepes, in desserts like cheesecake and more. It's a great savory addition too, or good just to eat with a spoon from the tub.

Ingredients:pasteurized goat's milk, infusion of lavender flowers, honey, lactic cultures, enzymes.
I bought this at the High Falls COOP on a whim and oh my oh my! Perfection. That is what my husband called it (and I completely agreed -- it's like delicate floral beauty for your tummy).

This cheese is delectable. Since it's unsalted, it tastes great with a salty cracker, or organic rice rice cake. I would love to try it in a cheesecake as suggested. The honey lavender is not overpowering and just sweet enough.

Just enough honey and lavender in this soft, creamy cheese.
