Point Reyes Original Blue cheese is an award winning blue cheese made from raw cow's milk. This Californian cheese is beautifully chalky white with sharp lines of contrasting blue-grey veins that give the cheese an almost marble appearance.
This widely acclaimed cheese is a true farmstead cheese, only Grade A milk from the family's herd of cows is used, these cows are raised from birth right on the property where the cheese is made, which means they have complete control over the process from milk to cheese.
The flavor of this gourmet cheese is creamy, sweet, fresh milk with a medium-to-strong punch of blue flavor. Original Blue is aged for a minimum of 6 months, but the cheese will not be overwhelming to the and inexperienced blue cheese taster. Roquefort or Stilton are much stronger than Original Blue. In July of 2011 Original Blue was the winner of the 39th Sofi Awards for the outstanding specialty foods and beverages of the year in the category Cheese or Dairy product.
