Tomme (pronounced TOM or TOME) is a term for a family of cheeses produced on farms in the French and Swiss Alps using a herd's extra milk, and named after the local town. Tommes are typically rustic, accessible, and versatile. Use it like a ‘table cheese’ – in any situation which calls for a bit of cheese.
Thomasville Tomme follows this tradition, but on U.S. soil. It's a mild but flavorful wheel of 'use it for anything' cheese named after its town, Thomasville, Georgia. The farm's location is extremely unique: cows can stay on pasture 365 days per year due to good water supply and mild winters. This cheese is truly grass-fed, all year long.
Aged for 2-3 months, this cheese is semi-firm, with grassy, buttery flavors. Its natural rind smells like mushrooms and buttermilk. Delicious enough for a special cheese board, or grating into your favorite cheesy dish – Thomasville Tomme will become a staple in your fridge.
We hand-cut and wrap this cheese in wedges of 1 pound and 8 ounces and you can purchase and entire wheel of 6.5 pounds.
Please note that wheels may vary slightly in total weight, you will be charged for the actual weight of the wheel that you will receive.
