Tomme (pronounced TOM or TOME) is a term for a family of cheeses produced on farms in the French and Swiss Alps using a herd's extra milk, and named after the local town. Tommes are typically rustic, accessible, and versatile. Use it like a ‘table cheese’ – in any situation which calls for a bit of cheese.
Thomasville Tomme follows this tradition, but on U.S. soil. It's a mild but flavorful wheel of 'use it for anything' cheese named after its town, Thomasville, Georgia. The farm's location is extremely unique: cows can stay on pasture 365 days per year due to good water supply and mild winters. This cheese is truly grass-fed, all year long.
Aged for 2-3 months, this cheese is semi-firm, with grassy, buttery flavors. Its natural rind smells like mushrooms and buttermilk. Delicious enough for a special cheese board, or grating into your favorite cheesy dish – Thomasville Tomme will become a staple in your fridge.
We hand-cut and wrap this cheese in wedges of 1 pound and 8 ounces and you can purchase and entire wheel of approx. 6.5 pounds.
