Many regions in Italy have their own special pasta shape, Caserecce or Casarecce is one of them. It simply means home-made and it is from Sicily.
The pasta look like a twisted tube, a twisted towel if you like and it is great for chunkier and creamy sauces, and in casserole dishes. It is also called Strozzapreti.
Our Caserecce is made by the Gentile Pasta Factory; a historic artisan factory in the city of Gragnano, famous throughout the world for its pasta. Since June 2012 Gentile only uses the famous Senatore Cappelli wheat for the production of their pasta. This wheat has an intense fragrance and flavor and is considered the king of Italian durum grains.
