What do you get when you add cream to a Gouda cheese, the crown jewel of Holland? You get Roomkaas with a butter fat of 60 percent and nothing less than pure goodness. This popular cheese, named Roomkaas literally means Cream Cheese. We think of a spreadable type cheese, here in the States, but this Dutch Gouda-style double-cream cheese, made from cow's milk is not a spreadable cheese, unless it is left at room temperature for a little bit too long.
This young gourmet Gouda, with its creamy buttery taste and semi-soft texture will without a doubt become a house favorite at any temperature. Roomkaas will literally melt in your mouth.
This cheese pairs well with fresh grapes, pears, and dried apricots. It's sliceable, it melts beautifully, ideal for making creamy cheese sauces. When you serve it with crackers, select a flavorful cracker to set of the creamy flavor of the cheese.
We hand-cut and wrap this cheese in wedges of 8 ounces and 1 pound.
