Aphrodite Galotyri PDO is a traditional soft spreadable Greek cheese made from a mixture of sheep and goat's milk. The creamy texture is flecked with tiny lumps of mixed milk curd, and its light and refreshing flavour has a remarkable lactic, lemony tang.
Perfect for snacking, dips and sharing with friends, this spreadable cheese is delicious served with grilled meats, vegetables, and pasta or nachos instead of sour cream, or as a dessert with fresh berries and cake frosting.
Aphrodite Galotyri (meaning 'milk cheese') is one of the world's oldest cheese spreads. Produced only in Greece under strict PDO regulations, it was originally a seasonal treat, made in summer by shepherds that roamed the hillside pastures of the Epirus and Thessaly regions of Northern Greece.
