Black Forest Ham or Schwarzwalder Schinken as they say in Germany, is a variety of smoked ham, traditionally produced in the Black Forest. This ham is salted and seasoned and then molasses-dipped for rich color and a touch of sweetness. Then the ham is cured and smoked for several weeks, during which time the ham acquires its deep red color and the smoking enriches its flavor.
This Schaller and Weber Black Forest Ham is not a full ham, but a half, so it is also an option for smaller families and weighs approximately 4.5 pounds.
